Hungary updated its labour regulations to expand overtime allowances. The annual permissible overtime threshold increased from 250 hours per year to 400 hours per year, superseding any existing collective labour agreements.
The revisions maintain the existing 48-hour weekly work ceiling but extend the overtime banking period from one year to three years. This extension allows employers to accumulate and compensate overtime in a single payment after the extended period concludes.
These amendments represent a significant shift in Hungary’s labour framework, granting employers greater flexibility in managing employee work schedules while maintaining the established weekly hour limitations.
